Housing development proposals at

Hurdlow Mews and Edale Crescent, Gamesley

High Peak Community Housing along with High Peak Borough Council are currently consulting on two affordable housing schemes. Listed below are the details as sent to  me by the Council.

Details on the schemes

"I am writing to provide you with an update relating to the development of proposals for two affordable housing schemes at Hurdlow Mews and Edale Crescent, Gamesley.

Nottingham Community Housing Association NCHA has submitted two bids to the Housing Corporation for the schemes at Hurdlow Mews and Edale Crescent. The outcome of bids made to be announced during March 06.

If the bids are successful NCHA will wish to submit planning applications soon after. The bids comprise of supported housing scheme and a general needs housing scheme.

Supported Housing at Edale Crescent

BurbageCarPark

The supported housing is designed to provide accommodation for young homeless people and would comprise of 8 self contained flats and an on site office. A specialist supported housing provider would manage the scheme. The provider would be invited to tender to deliver the management and support service, they would be expected to be a Registered Social Landlord, follow best practice with regard supported housing management and have considerable experience with the client group. High Peak Community Housing would have 100% nominations in perpetuity.

General Needs Rented Housing at Hurdlow Mews

HurdlowCarPark This would be a development of four, three bedroom houses for general needs letting. Although the housing would be developed by NCHA it is High Peak Community Housing that would manage the units and oversee lettings. Tenants would be selected from the HPCH waiting list.

A community consultation drop in is being held at the Gamesley Residents Association Office on Tuesday 28th February, 3pm - 7pm. Representatives from NCHA, HPCH and the Council will be available to advise members of the public with any queries.

For your information I have attached a Frequently Asked Questions sheet, which provides further information on the supported housing scheme. Copies of this will be available at the drop-in for members of the public to take away. "

A public meeting about the proposals will take place on Thursday 30th March, starting at 7.00pm in the Gamesley Sport and Community Centre.

Public Meeting information

Mark Ford (head of operations) from High Peak Community Housing, along with Chris Curtis (strategic housing officer) and Dai Larner (strategic director planning and regeneration) from High Peak Borough Council will be available to answer your questions and concerns.

Also in attendance (to listen to your views) will be Cllr John Pritchard the executive member with responsibility for this area of the Council's work.

Current Situation (April 2006)

At the Public Meeting it was advised that the Edale Scheme had been withdrawn for the time been, but that the Hurdlow scheme was still under consideration, but that the Council and other bodies would take under consideration the comments made at the public meeting, before deciding on what to do next.

Update 31/5/2006

At this evening's social inclusion select committee meeting, there is a report updating members of the committee with regards to the council's success, in biding for funds for the a variety of housing schemes including funding for the schemes above and other similar ones within the High Peak.

Update 1/6/2006

In today's Glossop Chronicle, there is an article entitled "Big cash boost for local housing", which details the contents of the report mentioned above, but as per my blog entry, made earlier today after a number of concerned phone calls, it doesn't report the full story.

As an update to the blog entry, and following contact with senior officers at the council, the following 'clarification' has now been issued by the press office to the Glossop Chronicle :

"Borough wide Affordable Housing Consultations

High Peak Borough Council along with its Housing Association Partners have been allocated £2.1m of grant to deliver new affordable housing in areas identified as having a high need. The funding is expected to deliver 54 new affordable units in various locations across the Borough. Including Hadfield, Doveholes, New Mills and Fairfield.

Each of the proposals is at a very early stage. The exact location of the schemes is yet to be confirmed and a programme of consultation is currently underway. All proposals are subject to a planning application and no location will be confirmed without statutory consultation being undertaken. Consultation has already commenced on the Gamesley estate and this will be extended to Hadfield and Doveholes during June and July. Consultation in New Mills and Fairfield is planned for the autumn 2006."

This I hope will clear up the concerns from the article in this week's paper, but if anyone needs further information, please let me know.
